2 players who might not get a single game in the Sri Lanka T20I series

It will be Gautam Gambhir‘s first assignment as the India Head Coach in the Sri Lanka T20I series. It will be interesting to see the tactics he employs. All eyes would be on the playing XI, as well. Gambhir will want to start his career on a good note and hence, he may not take a lot of risks. Hence, a few players might not get a game in this series. Here, we take a look at the list of two players who might not get a single game in the Sri Lanka T20I series.

1) Riyan Parag

In the first place, it was a surprise that Riyan Parag got a place in the T20I squad ahead of the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhishek Sharma. Riyan did not get a great debut series against Zimbabwe. Hence, it was a surprise to see his name both in the ODI and the T20I squads.

Nevertheless, Riyan might be benched for all three games. India’s middle-order might have Rishabh Pant, SKY, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. If there is a need for a backup, Sanju Samson will be the first choice for the management. Three matches will be given to these players and hence, Riyan might not get a match.

2) Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed is one of the players who might not get a single game in the Sri Lanka T20I series. India is likely to use only two pacers with Hardik Pandya as the third seamer. Shivam Dube will be used if the conditions favour the medium-pacers.

With both Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj on the side, Khaleel may not get a game. Against Zimbabwe, he was not at his best. Hence, that will also not help his case. If there are any injury issues, though, Khaleel could get to play.
