2 players who might be dropped once Maheesh Theekshana is back to CSK squad for the next game

Chennai Super Kings will next play Rajasthan Royals on 12th April. They are in good form and further improving the team, Maheesh Theekshana will be available for selection. He will lead the spin attack and hence, MS Dhoni and co. have to drop a foreign player for the next game. Here, we take a look at two players who might be dropped once Maheesh Theekshana is back to the CSK squad for the next game.

1) Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner has actually been in good form for CSK. However, if the team has to maintain the balance, they will have to drop the Kiwi. Theekshana will then be a straightforward replacement for the cricketer.

Santner’s batting abilities would have been useful but it is expected that Theekshana will have a more impacting contribution with the ball. On the other hand, it needs to be noted that Ravindra Jadeja took a few wickets against Mumbai Indians. His return to form might reduce dependence on Santner, thereby leaving it free for Theekshana to come into the playing XI.

2) Devon Conway

Devon Conway is one of the players who might be dropped once Maheesh Theekshana is back in the CSK squad for the next game. The Kiwi opener has been inconsistent in the games that he has played so far. Now that Ajinkya Rahane came back to form in style, CSK won’t be bothered much about dropping Conway.

It could also depend on the conditions when CSK drops either Conway or Santner. On a pitch like at the Chepauk, if CSK needs more spinners, they could drop Conway. However, in good batting conditions, having a player like Conway will serve the squad better. Anyways, the Impact Player rule can be used by the team to adjust the balance accordingly. Therefore, he features on this list.
