With seniors being rested and young players featuring in the T20 squad, it’s fair to say that team is going through a transition phase in the shortest format of the game. However, a few notables were missing from the team as well. As the first game of the series is less than one week away, we take look at 2 Players unlucky to miss the T20I series against Sri Lanka series.

Prithvi Shaw

Since representing India in July 2021, when he was part of a second-string squad that toured Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is, Prithvi Shaw hasn’t been part of India’s squad. However, he has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit and is continuously knocking on the doors of selectors. He also is leading Mumbai in the domestic games and is doing a terrific job as a skipper as well. Shaw had a terrific Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 332 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 181.42. Not only this, he has been staggering in IPL as well as he has been providing his team with fiery starts. With the kind of performance he has been displaying, it was expected that the young opener would be there but he yet again missed out.

Ravi Bishnoi

One of the unluckiest players to miss out from the Indian squad for the T20I series is Ravi Bishnoi. The leg-spinner has performed exceptionally well in the limited opportunities he got. He did a terrific job in the Asia Cup but despite being a good performer and was dropped from the Indian T20I team. He was named as a reserve in the T20 World Cup squad and didn’t get the opportunity in the New Zealand series. With the young squad expected to be released, it was almost certain that Bishnoi will be a regular feature in the team. But this wasn’t the case as Yuzvendra Chahal has been preferred over him. In 10 games so far, the Himachal Pradesh spinner has picked 16 wickets at an economy of just over 7.
