2 players unlucky to miss out on the Pakistan squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Finally, Pakistan announced the team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will happen in the West Indies and the USA. Pakistan has actually done well in the last two editions, especially in 2021. The team has a solid core and hence, many were waiting to see the final squad. Now that it has been announced, there have been a few surprises. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players unlucky to miss out on the Pakistan squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Pakistan squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup: Babar Azam (C), Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Fakhar Zaman, Azam Khan (WK), Usman Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Abbas Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed

1) Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali, despite the odds being against him, did well in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Yes, he was expensive but in various spells, he was very difficult to play. Considering his experience and his decent batting skills, it is a surprise that he had to miss out.

On the other hand, Pakistan has stocked the squad with some fine pace-bowling options. Mohammad Amir has returned to the squad and so does Naseem Shah, who missed out on the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

2) Irfan Khan

Irfan Khan is one of the players unlucky to miss out on the Pakistan squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The youngster was one of the best middle-order batters in the PSL 2024. Hence, it was a bit surprising to see him not get his due in the World Cup squad.

Considering the fragility of the Pakistan middle-order at times, it would have been a good idea to have an extra option in the squad. However, Pakistan has an extra bowler in the side. It appears that the team is playing to its strengths.
