RCB lost to Delhi Capitals on Saturday, thereby losing their grip on their chances for the playoffs. Nevertheless, they still have a good chance. If they bat first against Mumbai Indians in their next game, they will be under pressure because MI is chasing well this season. Hence, the team must carefully decide on their Impact Player. Here, we take a look at two players RCB could use as the Impact Player if they bat first against Mumbai Indians.
1) Vijaykumar Vyshak
Assuming Harshal Patel will be a part of the playing XI, RCB can field Vijaykumar Vyshak in the second innings. He did well in his last game and would be a good option to have with his variations and changes in pace.
The team needs a player who can control the flow of runs in the middle overs. This has been RCB’s weak point in IPL 2023. Vyshak is someone who can do that, although it would be very hard against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. That said, amongst the other options that RCB has, Vyshak would be the best bet.
2) Karn Sharma
Karn Sharma is one of the players RCB could use as the Impact Player if they bat first against Mumbai Indians. The veteran has done well in his chance but has leaked runs often. If Karn can arrest this, he would be a good option for RCB. It needs to be seen, though, if RCB would trust him at the Wankhede Stadium, where making runs is very easy.
Wanindu Hasaranga has been inconsistent in IPL 2023. While he has picked a few wickets, his economy is on the higher side. RCB needs a more penetrative spin attack and for that, Karn has to do well. MI has some good players of spin in the middle overs. If they are out early, they can then bring on Karn into the XI.
