“We have a good relationship with the BCCI,” Graeme Smith on the possibility of Indian players participating in the SAT20 league

There has been a lot of debate about BCCI not allowing Indian players to play in the overseas leagues. Many fans and pundits have shown their interest and have expressed their desire to see Indian stars like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and many others in the foreign league. But so far there doesn’t seem a light at the end of the big tunnel for his debate.

On the other hand, the inaugural edition of the SAT20 league took place in January this year and it saw an enthralling battle between bat and ball and gave immense entertainment to the fans. Sunrisers Eastern Cape were crowned the winners of the tournament as they displayed a staggering brand of cricket throughout the tournament.

Ever since SAT20 has concluded, many South African players and pundits have been asked about the possibility of Indian players. Recently Graeme Smith opened up about the same.

While speaking to AB de Villiers on the former’s YouTube channel, he said that: “I get asked this question a lot, especially from Indian journos. I think the BCCI has got a policy over their players at the moment. I think we are perfectly suited if that policy changes. We have a good relationship with the BCCI and we engage with them a lot.”

“We would love to have Indian players,” says Graeme Smith

Graeme Smith further went onto to say that if BCCI changes their policy, they would live to have Indian players in the league as well. He elaborated: “I think if that ever changes, we’ll be perfectly suited to be able to facilitate and we would love to have Indian players as well.

Both India and South Africa players will be seen in action together during the IPL. The league will take place from 31st March.
