The ICC Cricket World Cup is around three months away from now. The excitement for the event has taken its toll on the fans and players as the preparations are underway. 2 Opening Combinations that Australia might have for the ICC World Cup 2023

The mighty Australian team, who in the last two years have won T20 World Cup and ICC World Test Championship Final, would be one of the hot favourites going into the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Pat Cummins-led side has been in staggering form of late and it’ll be no surprise if they win the ODI World Cup. With no Aaron Finch in the team, there might be some headaches for Australia in the opening department and in this piece, we take a look at 2 Opening Combinations that Australia might have for the ICC World Cup 2023

David Warner and Travis Head

David Warner and Travis Head will be the hot candidates to open the innings. The duo has taken over the onus pretty well after the departure of Aaron Finch. While there’s no doubt about the ability of Warner, who is one of the best openers in the World, Head has really made the opening position his own. His aggressive approach has proved very vital for Australia and the glimpses of that were on the when Australia played three-match ODI series against India in March.

Micthell Marsh and David Warner

The duo of Micthell Marsh and David Warner will also be in the mind of Australia as an opening combination for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. David Warner no doubt will be there because of what has been doing over the years at the top. Marsh might come in as a surprise so that a left-right combination can be formed at the top of the order. Marsh got the opportunity to open the innings in the three-match ODI series against India in March and it’s fair to say that he ripped the Indian bowlers and made their mockery. For the last few years, he has been the team’s best batter in the white-ball format and it won’t be a surprise if the team utilises Marsh’s form at the top in World Cup.
