2 franchises that targeted Kartik Tyagi in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign

Before the auctions, many expected Kartik Tyagi to go for a good sum. However, Gujarat Titans was able to sign the player for just INR 60 Lakhs. This had to do more with the time when the player came under the hammer. Nevertheless, there were two other teams that were interested in his services before GT signed the cricketer. They bid for him but could not make the final bid. On that note, here, we take a look at two franchises that targeted Kartik Tyagi in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign.

1) Kolkata Knight Riders

After signing Mitchell Starc, KKR was interested in improving the Indian pace contingent. They had already signed Chetan Sakariya and another all-phase pacer was needed for the side.

Hence, it made sense that they bid for Kartik Tyagi. However, it was a big surprise that they did not go forward with the bid. Kartik would have been the ideal signing for KKR. He would have added variety to the pace attack and would have also been a long-term investment. However, it was not to be.

2) Lucknow Super Giants

LSG is one of the franchises that targeted Kartik Tyagi in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not sign. After trading Avesh Khan, LSG was looking at improving the Indian side of things when it came to the pace attack. They signed Shivam Mavi and Mohammed Arshad Khan in the end. However, they also had Kartik Tyagi as one of their targets.

Just like KKR, even LSG did not move forward with the interest. LSG needed some Indian pacers who could bowl in all the phases of the innings. They do not have a reliable option now. Yes, Kartik is also inexperienced but he has played for a few IPL seasons and would have been ideal. Also, since he is from Uttar Pradesh, the local fans would have been pleased.
