2 franchises that must target Shamar Joseph as replacement if there are any injury problems

Shamar Joseph is the latest name that is creating waves in cricket. A few months ago, he was not in the picture and recently, he helped West Indies win a Test in Australia after a long time. Yes, the T20 format is still new for him but he certainly has the skills to ace this format. Most importantly, he has the drive to dominate the opposition batters. If not as the lead pacer, he could surely be a top pick as the second or the backup pacer. On that note, here, we take a look at two franchises that must target Shamar Joseph as a replacement if there are any injury problems.

Note: This article is done assuming Shamar Joseph had registered for the IPL 2024 Auctions:

1) Chennai Super Kings

CSK does not have a great bench when it comes to the overseas pace department. Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman are the only two overseas pacers on the side. While Pathirana could be inconsistent, both Pathirana and Fizz are injury-prone.

The Indian seamers, as well, have fitness issues and not many can bowl really quick. Hence, if there are any injury issues, CSK must plan to sign Shamar Joseph.

2) Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR is one of the franchises that must target Shamar Joseph as a replacement if there are any injury problems. Mitchell Starc and Gus Atkinson form a good combination of overseas pacers. However, KKR still lacks that cutting edge in the pace department. The Indian pacers such as Chetan Sakariya and Harshit Rana also do not have a lot of experience.

West Indian cricketers have always found success in KKR. Hence, it could be the time to witness another West Indian do well for KKR. Shamar Joseph would fit the philosophy at KKR and could bring instant success to the team. Hence, KKR is on this list.
