Rajasthan Royals faced their first defeat of the season to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The squad led by Faf du Plessis handed a four-wicket loss to the team from Jaipur. Although RR had done well in the first two games, a few experts pointed out a gap in the balance of the squad. After the loss now, they could go for a few changes. They next face the Lucknow Super Giants on 10th April at the Wankhede Stadium. In this article, we take a look at two changes Rajasthan Royals might make for their next game against Lucknow Super Giants.
1) Karun Nair for Riyan Parag
The inclusion of Riyan Parag has been at the centre of intense discussion ever since this season has kickstarted. The Assam youngster did not do well last season and despite that, RR has trusted him. However, so far, Riyan has not had a lot of opportunities, either with the bat or ball. Considering the recent underwhelming form of Riyan, RR batters at the top of the order have been forced to stay till the end. This is affecting their scoring rate in the middle-overs,
Karun Nair has had a decent domestic season and RR could bring in the experienced player for Riyan. The Karnataka cricketer can play at any spot in the playing XI and this will allow the RR batting unit to be flexible and operate with more freedom. If Karun clicks, it will help the franchise a lot as the attacking batters in the XI can then go full throttle.
2) Obed McCoy for Navdeep Saini
Obed McCoy for Navdeep Saini is one of the changes Rajasthan Royals might make for their next game against Lucknow Super Giants. RR has interestingly used only three foreigners in the last two games. However, they might be forced to make a change for their next encounter.
Navdeep Saini has been leaking too many runs and since RR had relied on him to come good at the death, the franchise must now look at other options. Obed McCoy has done well in the CPL in death overs. Hence, that is one option that RR can consider.
