After the four-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2022 season opener, Mumbai Indians would want to regroup and get back to form. They will next face Rajasthan Royals at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium in Mumbai. The match will happen on 2nd April and will be a day game just like Mumbai’s first encounter. On that note, in this article, we take a look at two changes Mumbai Indians might make for the game against Rajasthan Royals.
1) Suryakumar Yadav for Anmolpreet Singh
Ahead of the opener against Delhi Capitals, Suryakumar Yadav checked into the Mumbai Indians camp. Since the team’s next game is on Saturday, SKY will have ample time to complete his mandatory quarantine. Although there is no official report regarding his availability, considering NCA has released him, it is likely that SKY will take part in the next game.
Anmolpreet Singh has played very few games so far and unfortunately, he could not make the opportunity count against Delhi. If he had made it, too, SKY would have replaced him for the RR game. Such is the recent form of the batter that he forms a crucial part of the Mumbai Indians batting line-up. The team had a decent batting performance on Sunday and it would further receive a boost with SKY’s arrival.
2) Fabian Allen for Daniel Sams
West Indian all-rounder Fabian Allen for Daniel Sams is one of the changes Mumbai Indians might make for the game against Rajasthan Royals. Daniel Sams gave away 57 runs in four overs against Delhi Capitals and the eighteenth over that he bowled shifted the momentum towards Delhi.
Hence, Sams is likely to be dropped for the next game. Basil Thampi looked to be in good form and hence, he is likely to get the nod as the third pacer. Fabien Allen is one player who could replace Sams. While he offers a bit more variety in the spin attack, Allen can be used as a floater in the batting department. Especially with Rajasthan Royals likely to unleash top spinners in the middle-overs, MI could need someone to take on them from the word go. Hence, Allen could get a chance against Rajasthan.
