Despite a depleted squad, Delhi Capitals managed to win the first IPL 2022 encounter against Mumbai Indians. They were close to making it two in two but eventually lost to the Gujarat Titans by 14 runs. For the next game, though, Delhi Capitals will receive a boost with the return of some big names. The Rishabh Pant-led squad will next face KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants on 7th April at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium in Mumbai. In this article, we take a look at two changes Delhi Capitals might make for their next game against Lucknow Super Giants.
1) David Warner for Tim Seifert
David Warner has entered the Delhi Capitals camp and with the next game happening on Thursday, he will be available for the match. His arrival will be a massive relief for the squad. Warner brings in loads of experience at the top of the order and will also help Pant in the leadership department.
Prithvi Shaw has had it a little hard so far and Warner’s presence is likely to make his job a little easy. He could go right away after the bowling and this will in turn help Warner, who is recently playing cautiously at the start. For the fans, apart from the opening combination, many would be excited about Warner and Pant playing together.
2) Sarfaraz Khan for Mandeep Singh
Sarfaraz Khan for Mandeep Singh is one of the changes Delhi Capitals might make for their next game against Lucknow Super Giants. Delhi Capitals could also stick with Tim Seifert since they have been using only three foreigners in the last two games. However, it is not sure how the Kiwi might fare at the death or against the spinners. Hence, they could try the in-form Sarfaraz Khan.
The Mumbai lad is in great form at the moment and he is a good player of spin. Hence, at No.3, he would add great value to the XI. During overs 7 to 15, any T20 team needs someone who can take on the bowlers and Sarfaraz is the right fit for the job. Therefore, he might replace Mandeep Singh, who has not made good use of his chances so far.
