2 changes Australia could still make in the final squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Australia will look to add another trophy in the coming months in the West Indies and the USA. Recently, the squad was announced for the upcoming World Cup. May 25th is the deadline for teams to finalize this squad. Australia usually does not tinker much before the tournament but some of their players are in good form and for other reasons, as well, they could opt for some changes. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two changes Australia could still make in the final squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

1) Jake Fraser-McGurk for Cameron Green

Jake Fraser-McGurk is a really popular name going around right now. The youngster has been in cracking form in the ongoing IPL 2024. IPL is a tournament that is very close to international cricket. JFM is acing and there is no reason why Australia must not have him on the squad for the World Cup.

On the other hand, Green is struggling with the bat. Nevertheless, he is decent with the ball. However, Australia might need more of his exploits with the bat. It needs to be noted that Green prefers a top-order role in the T20 format. Considering his form, JFM could be used as his replacement.

2) Spencer Johnson for Nathan Ellis

Spencer Johnson for Nathan Ellis is one of the changes Australia could still make in the final squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Mitchell Starc’s inconsistent form could prompt the Aussie selectors to have an able backup in the team.

Pat Cummins has been doing well in the middle overs in IPL 2024. His form ensures that Nathan Ellis might not be needed as the middle-overs specialist. Anyways, Spencer Johnson can also do this job. Therefore, this change could also be on the cards for Australia ahead of the World Cup.
