2 big players who might go unsold in IPL 2023 auction

The recruitment of the players in IPL 2023 auction will depend on various cricketing and some non-cricketing factors as well

While the IPL 2023 auction can be life-changing for some of the cricketers, who have shown brilliant form in international cricket in recent times, it might also turn out pretty disappointing for some of the other big names in world cricket.

When the IPL franchises make their decisions on the auction day, the talent of the players is one of the primary factors that they take into account, but there are several other factors too, which are taken into account, and sometimes the players also miss out because of the non-cricketing factors.

Here are the 2 big players who might go unsold in the upcoming IPL 2023 auction –

Jason Roy

Although Jason Roy has suffered a dip in form recently, he is still one of the best T20 players in the world and has performed well from time to time in different leagues around the world. But for some reason, he has withdrawn from the IPL twice in the last three seasons after putting his name in the IPL auction.

Roy cited personal reasons for withdrawing on two occasions, but it definitely disrupted the plans of the franchises who bought him and planned things accordingly, keeping his availability in mind. Even though Roy has got ability to perform well in the IPL in future, the franchises might not bid for him this time around in IPL 2023 auction for the simple reason that they might not have any confidence over his availability.

Adil Rashid

There is no doubt about the fact that Adil Rashid is one of the best spinners in the world in international T20 circuit at the moment, but much of the demand for the overseas players in the IPL is about hard hitting batsmen, seam bowling allrounders and fast bowlers who can hit the deck and generate a lot of speed.

Since a lot of the IPL teams can easily recruit the local Indian spinners from the domestic circuit of India, the overseas spinners are rarely in high demand in the IPL. It shouldn’t raise too many eyebrows if Adil Rashid goes unsold in the IPL 2023 auction again.

Abhishek

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
