In the series opener at the Queens Sports Club, Zimbabwe Women won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first.
The South African side took the invitation with open arms as skipper Andrie Steyn scored a brilliant hundred alongside two solid cameos by Nondumiso Shangase and Anneke Bosch, helping them reach a total of 232/7. The pick of the bowlers was Tasmeen Granger with 3/44.
In reply, Zimbabwe Women started off sloppily but skipper Josephine Nkomo brought stability with her unbeaten 70 but couldn’t help her team get over the line. They lost the opening match by 32 runs courtesy of Michaela Andrews’ 3/48.
