Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley is one of the marquee matches on the upcoming WrestleMania 39 show. According to reports, the match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship could headline Night 1 of the Showcase of the Immortals this year.
Rhea Ripley earned the right to challenge the SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair by winning the 2023 WWE Women’s Royal Rumble match. She entered the match in the first position and outlasted 29 other women to win the match.
Wrestling veteran Hugo Savinovich believes that it is the right time to put the title on Rhea Ripley now. In a chat with Sportskeeda Wrestling on the UnSKripted show, Savinovich explained why Ripley should dethrone Charlotte at WrestleMania 39:
“I think that Rhea has already put over Charlotte. This is a business. It’s WrestleMania 39. If you want to put Judgment Day on another level, you want to put the female division on another level; you’ve got to do it,” the former WWE commentary team member said.
Charlotte Flair recorded a victory vs Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 3 years ago
This is not the first time fans will witness Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley match at the Grandest Stage of ‘Em All. The Queen of All Eras participated in a singles match against Rhea at WrestleMania 36. Charlotte won the Royal Rumble that year and challenged Rhea for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship.
That match ended in the favor of Charlotte, who ended up dethroning Rhea as the champion. Now, if Rhea beats Charlotte for the title at WrestleMania 39, it will complete a full circle. Considering how Triple H loves long-term booking, it should not be a surprise if WWE books Rhea Ripley to beat Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39.
WrestleMania 39 will take place on April 1 and 2 at the SoFi Stadium in California. It will be exciting to see who wins the match between Rhea and Charlotte.
