The 46th match of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently underway at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, where the Chennai Super Kings are battling the Sunrisers Hyderabad. MS Dhoni has returned as the captain of CSK for this match, as Ravindra Jadeja stepped down after captaincy impacted his personal performances.
Kane Williamson won the toss against MS Dhoni and decided to bowl first. In a brief interview at the toss, former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison asked Dhoni straightaway if he would participate in the next season of the IPL a swell.
Dhoni cheekily responded to him and said that fans will see him in yellow, but whether he will play or not, that fans will come to know next year only. Here’s what he replied when asked if the fans will witness him in the yellow jersey next year as well:
“You’ll definitely see me in the yellow jersey, whether it is this one, or some other one, you never know.”
We have dropped catches, those are the things you want to omit: MS Dhoni
During the same interview, Dhoni discussed the things that have gone wrong for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022. CSK won the 2021 edition of the tournament but are ninth on the IPL 2022 points table right now with only two wins from eight matches. Reflecting on the mistakes that CSK have made this season so far, Dhoni said:
“You need to realise the current situation. We have dropped catches, those are the things you want to omit. Those are the areas you need to work on.”
The Chennai Super Kings captain signed off by saying that there were two changes to the CSK playing XI from the previous match. Due to injuries, Dwayne Bravo and Shivam Dube missed out, whereas Simarjeet Singh and Devon Conway replaced the duo.
