It’s fair to say that Pakistan is the luckiest team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. They kick-started their campaign with a 5-wicket loss against India. It was a high-octane clash as both the teams fought tooth and nail but Virat Kohli’s master class sealed the game for India.
Things got even worse for them as they lost against Zimbabwe by just 1 run. They failed to chase the target of 131 runs and it dented their chances of qualifying for the semi-final. However, after that, they stepped up and defeated the Netherlands and South Africa to keep their hopes alive.
Luck favoured them too as the Netherlands defeated South Africa and opened the chances for Pakistan. They then needed to defeat Bangladesh and it went their way as they thrashed the Asian nation and found themselves in the semi-final.
The Babar Azam-led side then produced a superlative effort in the semi-final against New Zealand as they pounded the opposition by 7 wickets to book their berth in the final. They will now lock horns with England in the final on Sunday (13th November) and they would be hoping to display another good performance to lift their second T20 title.
Ahead of the final against England, Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan made a bold statement. He said that his side dominated against India and Zimbabwe but failed to finish and they played good cricket overall.
He said: “Pakistan dominated against Zimbabwe and India but lost by margin. Pakistan has played a lot of good cricket in T20 WorldCup but was unable to finish in these two games.”
