“That’s What I Told Her”- Mick Foley Reveals How He Stopped Becky Lynch From Leaving WWE In 2018

WWE Legend Mick Foley recently revealed that Becky Lynch thought about leaving WWE in 2018 because of her on-screen booking. Becky was not being booked well as she was a bland babyface at that time, but things changed at the biggest party of summer when the Irish Lasskicker turned heel and transitioned into The Man.

Becky Lynch went on to the main event of WrestleMania 35 just a few months later and became the first woman to win the main event of WrestleMania. She pinned Ronda Rousey in a triple threat match also involving Charlotte Flair to become the new RAW and SmackDown women’s champion.

At the moment, Becky Lynch is one of the most popular WWE Superstars, but things might not have been the same had she decided to leave WWE back in 2018. Recalling that time on his Foley is Pod podcast, Mick Foley said:

“I remember giving her two piece of advice. I said, be patient, be ready. And I relayed to her a story about me being in the Memphis studio… So with that in mind, that’s what I told Becky. And then I also told her not to, you know, not to give up on the independent scene.”

Becky Lynch is likely to challenge Bianca Belair for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship at Summer Slam this year

WWE Summer Slam has been a special premium live event in their career of Becky. As mentioned ahead, she turned heel in 2018 at the Summer Slam show and that is what catapulted her to the next level. Becky also made an epic comeback to WWE last year at Summer Slam and defeated Bianca Belair in just 26 seconds to become the new SmackDown women’s champion.

This year, it seems Becky will wrestle Bianca at the Summer Slam again albeit for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship. It will be interesting to see if she can become the champion.
