ICC Shares The List Of Teams That Have Qualified For 2022 Commonwealth Games

​Amidst all the carnage and deluging news of death and melancholy, ICC came out with news that can actually inspire a few hopes.

The ICC has confirmed the details of the format and initial qualifiers for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games.

The hosts of the fray, England ​​will be joined by the likes of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa in an eight-team fray that will be convened at Edgbaston between July 28 and August 8th, 2022.

Another nation will also be appearing from the West Indies alongside another nation that will be picked from a qualifying event to be held by January 31, 2022.

This is only the second time that cricket will be featuring in the Games since 1998 that saw South Africa emerging as the champions of the tournament.


There will be 4500 athletes from 72 nations and territories who will be contending for glory over 11 days of sporting glam and glitz. This will be the first major multi-sporting event that will be honouring more medals to women than men.

As the big announcement arrived, English skipper, Heather Knight quoted, “We’re really excited about hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and it offers a big opportunity for women’s cricket, both in England and Wales and around the world.”

She continued, “With the direct entry into the competition confirmed, we’re one step closer to being on the pitch in Birmingham, and the prospect of potentially winning a medal is something that will be at the back of our minds across the next 12 months.”

She concluded by saying, “It’s going to be a fantastic competition, a real chance to showcase the women’s game to a huge audience and it’s one we’re thrilled to be taking part in.”

Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur quoted, “It is an awesome opportunity for both the women’s game and cricket to make a mark at the prestigious multi-discipline Games and we hope to return with loads of good memories.”
