The road to WrestleMania 40 is approaching its final destination at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in almost a week with the WWE Universe eagerly awaiting the show, billed to be the biggest WrestleMania of all time. Adding to the ongoing excitement is the reported involvement of WWE Hall of Famer and one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time, Stone Cold Steve Austin.
That has left the fans wondering how the Texas Rattlesnake would figure into WWE’s plans for The Show of Shows if he does show. Here are 3 possibilities for Steve Austin’s role if he appears at WrestleMania 40.
1. The Texas’ Special Guest Referee at WrestleMania 40
Ever since Stone Cold Steve Austin hung up his boots in 2003, he has been involved in multiple non-wrestling roles, particularly being a special guest referee for some of the most significant bouts in WWE history.
In fact, he served as a referee for the high-stakes WrestleMania ‘Battle of the Billionaires’ match in 2007 between former WWE Chairman and President-Elect of the USA, Donald Trump, represented by Umaga and Bobby Lashley respectively.

The former 6-time WWE champion can once again don the black and white stripes and return at WrestleMania 40 to be the special guest referee for one of the singles matches at The Show of Shows and raise some hell at the end only like Austin can.
2. The Two Flagship stars of different WWE eras come face-to-face at WrestleMania
Much like speculations regarding Stone Cold Steve Austin’s appearance, another top star, matching the caliber of the Bionic Redneck has been rumored to be involved at WrestleMania 40 i.e. The Greatest of all time, John Cena.
The Champ has dropped hints that his schedule was free on the day of WrestleMania, with the fans expecting Cena’s appearance at The Show of Shows. WWE could use this opportunity to set up the first-ever major face-to-face confrontation between Steve Austin and John Cena at The Grandest stage of them all, which could lead to a possible future mega showdown between the two faces of WWE.
3. Stone Cold Steve Austin Neutralizes The Final Boss and his Bloodline
WWE Universe is in store to witness one of the biggest tag team showdowns at WrestleMania 40 Night 1, with Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins battling Roman Reigns and his cousin, The Rock with high stakes involved for the main event of Night 2.
Moreover, it can be expected that Bloodline members Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa would make their presence felt to influence the outcome of the match. Although Rollins and Rhodes have some backup in the form of Jey Uso, the odds still stand at 3 against 4 for them.
I ain't gonna lie, I don't think there's any PERFECT way to end Roman's HISTORIC 1300+ day reign than having the two LEGENDS of different eras, Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena, join forces and cost him the title. 🔥

Stone Cold Steve Austin could be the fourth man to neutralize The Bloodline siding with Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso. Moreover, this involvement can also bring two of the most iconic rivals, The Rock and Steve Austin face-to-face which can lead to the fans erupting in excitement and possibly see the two top stars of the Attitude Era come to blows for the first time in over two decades.
