Here Is The Reason Why AJ Styles Wore A Mask At WWE Survivor Series 2022

WWE Survivor Series 2022 is streaming live on the WWE Network right now, and the second match of the show just got underway. Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor is currently battling the former WWE Champion AJ Styles. Both Superstars worked together as a team against The Judgment Day earlier this year, but they became rivals after Balor betrayed Styles.

This rivalry had taken a backseat for a few months when Finn Balor and co. were battling Edge. The rivalry resumed on the RAW after Extreme Rules, where AJ Styles teased joining The Judgment Day, only to swerve the quartet of Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley by reintroducing The OC to the WWE Universe.

Soon after, the two factions had a six-man tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel 2022, where Balor’s team emerged victorious. WWE then announced a singles match between the two Superstars for the Survivor Series show.

When was the last time AJ Styles wore a mask in WWE?

AJ Styles and Finn Balor have a lot of history together, and commentator Michael Cole shared the details of their past in Japan just before their match started. When Styles made his entrance for this match, he came out wearing a mask, which made the fans remember about his Wrestle Kingdom entrance in Japan.

Styles also wore a mask once when he held the WWE United States Championship. The Phenomenal One does not wear a mask normally, but for special occasions, he likes to remind the fans about his past.

WWE Survivor Series Results: Who won the match?

Styles defeated Finn Balor in their singles match via pinfall. This marked Styles’ first singles win on a WWE PPV since Crown Jewel 2019, where he had defeated Humberto Carillo. It will be interesting to see what happens next in the Styles vs. Balor rivalry.
