Two Big returns are reportedly happening at WWE Royal Rumble 2023. Both injured superstars are Big names and former champions. According to Xero News, Big E and Randy Orton are probably returning at the Royal Rumble 2023 if note earlier than that.
During a SmackDown tag team match between Big E, Kofi Kingston and the Brawling Brutes, Ridge Holland hit a belly-to-belly suplex on the muscle of the New Day. Big E landed awkwardly on his head and in this process ended up breaking his neck. Luckily for him, his big muscles saved his neck, and no surgery was needed.

Meanwhile, Randy Orton had been dealing with a back injury for quite some time involving a herniated disc in his back on the L4-L5 level on the left side, and that resulted in pain and weakness down his leg. The injury had gotten progressively worse, maybe requiring surgery.
He was performing while injured for weeks and lost his tag team titles to the Usos on SmackDown in May. Randy was subsequently announced injured by his RKBro partner, Matt Riddle the following week, and counted out of any in ring action for the rest of the year. Orton was supposed to go into a feud with Roman Reigns, leading up to a title match at SummerSlam but it was Riddle, who faced Roman instead on SmackDown.

WWE is still optimistic about the two heavyweights returning even before the Rumble as both have not required surgeries yet. But they are keeping their fingers crossed for Rumble.
Another injured star is Cody Rhodes, who is gunning for a Rumble return too. If he does return with these two, then WWE Royal Rumble 2023 will be one of the most appreciated events with loud pops and welcome back chants for the returning stars.
