Last week during SmackDown, a tournament was announced to determine the new women’s tag team champions. Sasha Banks & Naomi were indefinitely suspended after their infamous walkout from the arena prior to a Monday Night Raw show, and since then the titles have been vacant.
The contest will start next Monday and the final championship match will likely happen at the next premium live event, WWE Clash at the Castle. Here are the 5 teams that could become the new women’s tag team champions.
1. Will Aliyah & Raquel Rodriguez become the New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
Both Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez had a pretty dim debut on the main roster and it looks like they are lost in the mix. There are hardly any active women’s tag teams on both rosters who could be given an opportunity to compete.
So, it would be ideal if they teamed up and had a title run which would help them to better themselves as individual wrestlers.
2. Will Lita & Trish Stratus become New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
Lita and Trish Stratus are the two greatest divas in the history of WWE. Both had great influence on the women’s division for the kind of work they did in the Attitude era.
We see them returning very frequently, but rarely see them performing as a team. The duo exchange great chemistry working with each other and can have a successful reign if properly booked.

How could we not include The Bella Twins in the list of the greatest tag teams of all time? It’s been a long time since we last saw Brie Bella & Nikki Bella in a squared circle.
Now, it could be an accurate time for The Bella Twins to arrive since there’s an opportunity to win the prestigious championship because there is no more deserving pair than these two.
4. Will Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky become the New WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
Ever since they returned with Bayley, fans have been excited to see what the future holds for both of them. With the tournament being announced, Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky are the front runners to be the next tag team champions.
It’s time to revive the Women’s Tag Team division and there’s no better option for Triple H than to give the former NXT superstars a decent push.

What a compelling story it would potray out if WWE ended the controversial situation that happened after Naomi & Sasha’s mid way departure by making them the Women’s World Tag Team Champions again.
It’s been highly rumored that Boss ‘N’ Glow may return sooner rather than later. With all the rumors and a new tournament being announced, their comeback seems possible. If Naomi & Sasha Banks emerge as the winners in the finale match at Clash at the Castle, the Principality Stadium will go berserk.
