Wade Barrett or Bad News Barrett as he was once called, has said that he may return to in ring action someday when he has the right opportunity.
Before his self-imposed hiatus from WWE, Barrett was a five-time Intercontinental champion as well as King of the Ring 2015. He chose not to sign back with the company in 2015 even though he had almost a year left in his contract because he wanted to explore other opportunities. After working a little in other promotions in non-wrestling roles, he finally returned to WWE as the color commentator for NXT in 2020.
In a recent interview, he has said that he is still fit and healthy and maybe one day he will return to the ring, but he isn’t actively pursuing it as he is in his happiest place with his current commentator work on NXT and he isn’t desperately trying to come back like others do. Also, his NXT contract has been extended for another two years.
“Yeah, I can still move. I can still lift. My body is feeling good. I’ve always said that I’m in good shape, I’m healthy, and if the right opportunity presents itself at my door, then maybe we’ll see Wade Barrett return in the ring one day.”

He also feels that a wrestler never really retires from wrestling as they often become mentors after their in-ring careers go belly up. Triple H and Shawn Michaels can be cited as most recent examples of this when they took backstage official positions with WWE. He confessed that he won’t be negative to return to in ring action at some point if the perfect opportunity presented itself.

Among all the feathers he collected in his Brit cap, Barrett was known more for his personality than anything else. Also, he was known for having a new theme song almost every week. A weird distinction with Sixteen theme songs in total or more as fans counted them.
All these antiques aside, let’s not forget the fact that Wade was a legit real-life bare-knuckle boxer who had fought in legit fights all throughout Europe. Maybe he can join his UK buddies, the Brawling Brutes, as a manager or even better, as a fighting member.
