Io Shirai is the latest WWE Superstar to undergo a name change in the biggest pro wrestling promotion on earth. The former NXT Women’s Champion made her shocking return to the company at WWE SummerSlam 2022. Bayley first made her entrance after Bianca Belair successfully defended her RAW Women’s Championship against Becky Lynch.

Bayley was followed by Dakota Kai and then Io Shirai. It seems like the three women’s Superstars will form a faction on Monday night RAW now. WWE uploaded a video of the three returns on their official website, and they wrote IYO SKY. A tweet from WWE Shop’s official Twitter handle has also confirmed the name change.

Why is Io Shirai Iyo Sky now?

Name changes are something which are common in WWE these days. Quite a few Superstars have undergone a name change after being called up from NXT to the main roster. It is just that it gives them a fresh start on the main roster. Now, Iyo Sky will have a fresh start to her career on the Monday night RAW brand.

Looking at the way things panned out at SummerSlam, it should not be a surprise if fans witness a six-woman tag team match at the Clash at the Castle premium live event. Bayley, Io Shirai and Dakota Kai could team up to take on the trio of RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, who recently turned face and one more Superstar.

Since the match will happen in the United Kingdom, there is a possibility that the third Superstar of the face tag team is from the UK. It will be interesting to see how that rivalry continues on RAW. It was an epic start at SummerSlam, and still there is one more women’s match scheduled for the show, where Liv Morgan will take on Ronda Rousey.
