“Weak Captain Who Cannot Be Aggressive”- Danish Kaneria Slams Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam

Former Pakistan cricket team spinner Danish Kaneria lashed out on the current skipper of the national team Babar Azam for his defensive approach during the first match of the ICC World Test Championship series against the Australian cricket team.

The ICC World Test Championship series between the Pakistan cricket team and the Australian cricket team began on March 4 with a match in Rawalpindi. Fans expected a good contest between the two nations, but the lifeless pitch spoiled the excitement.

The Pakistan cricket team batted first and scored 476/4 in the first innings before Babar Azam declared the innings. In the Australian cricket team’s first innings, the visitors were all out for 459 runs, and in reply, the Pakistan team scored 252/0 in the second innings. The match ended in a draw.

Commenting on the pitch and the tactics from the Pakistan team in the first Test, former Pakistan player Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel:

“What were you afraid of? You had bowlers, but you didn’t play them. You have a weak captain who cannot be aggressive while leading the side. It was such a wicket that even Ramiz Raja would have scored runs on it even at this age.”

Danish Kaneria felt Ramiz Raja betrayed and lied to the fans

In the same video, Danish also criticized the post-match statement issued by the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja. Ramiz informed the fans that the administrative group will work to improve the pitches in Pakistan for both domestic cricket and international matches.

However, in Kaneria’s view, he just gave a lame excuse and betrayed the fans. Kaneria pointed out that the chairman was busy with his son’s wedding. Since he heard the noise of the controversy, as per Kaneria, Raja issued a lame excuse. The second Test is scheduled to begin tomorrow in Karachi.
