WTC Final: Rose Bowl, Southampton Weather forecast for 18th to 23rd June and Pitch report

Southampton Weather forecast for WTC Final: In a matter of a few more hours, the clash that will seal the fate of the world in red-ball cricket will be upon us. India and New Zealand are all set to confront each other in a blockbuster one-off Test match that is scheduled to play at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

India will be coming to this Test series on the back of a resonating victory against England that bore witness to a magnificent watershed. The Black Caps, on the contrary, will be high on confidence as they walk into this fixture riding on a comprehensive victory against the hosts of this extravaganza.

If there is one thing that will play out as a significant game-changer, that will be the weather. Weather in England has always been a spoilsport and has emphatically impacted the matches played out in the nation.

In fact, ICC has alotted an extra day to the Test match in order to complete the clash in case of rain playing spoilsport to the game.

Given the whimsical vagaries of weather being predominant in England, we have decided to bring to you the weather conditions and the pitch report of The Rose Bowl on the days for the Test match.

Pitch condition of the Rose Bowl for the WTC Final:

In a recent interview, the head-groundsman of Hampshire, Simon Lee mentioned that he is trying to drum up a lively pitch for both the sides. However, according to him, it won’t be an easy task to beget a surface that offers pace, bounce and movement simultaneously.

Given the overcast conditions, the pitch may play as a blessing to the fast bowlers as the ball is going to skid on a wet surface. Bowlers with movement that include the likes of Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami and Neil Wagner may be tipped as the favourites to wreak havoc on the surface.

However, bowlers with brutal pace like Bumrah and Jamieson can also spearhead an onslaught if the surface tends to be damp and heavy as that would aid their pace.

As far as the pitch report goes, the surface will be conducive for the bowlers while the batters will have to dig deep in order to have a steady momentum under the glacial conditions. The first couple of days will witness bounce and swing with very little assistance for the batsmen while the remaining days may see some help on grabs for the willow-swingers.
