The two teams were placed separately in two different groups during the inaugural edition of the 50 over competition.
Western Storm finished second in the South Group while Thunder finished third in the North Group last season.
Western Storm played their last game against Sunrisers in the inaugural season. Georgia Hennessy scored a magnificent 105 alongside Alex Griffiths’ 80 which took them to a huge total of 288/6. Despite Grace Scrivens’ fighting 72, the Sunrisers fell short by 47 runs.
Meanwhile, Thunder too played their last game in the same competition, against Northern Diamonds. However, Beth Langston’s brilliant spell of 3/18, helped Diamonds restrict the Thunder to a mere 143, who later chased the target comfortably by six wickets and 122 balls to spare.
