Suryakumar Yadav is one of the best T20 batsmen in India right now. His consistent performances for the Mumbai Indians helped him earn a place in the Indian cricket team. Earlier this year, the right-handed batsman made his T20I debut against the England cricket team. He impressed in that series, and recently he made his ODI debut against the Sri Lankan cricket team.
So far in his career, Suryakumar Yadav has played three ODI matches and four T20I matches. He has aggregated 124 runs in three ODIs, with his highest score being 53. For his excellent batting performances, Yadav won the Man of the Series award in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team.
After the 3-match ODI series between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team, the two Asian countries battled in a T20I series. The visitors won the first T20I match played at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. However, before the second T20I, Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the ones who came in close contact with Krunal have been asked to isolate.
According to reports, Suryakumar Yadav was one of the close contacts. As a result, he is expected to be unavailable for the rest of the series against the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Suryakumar Yadav is not the only Indian cricketer who came in close contact with Krunal Pandya
Eight Indian cricketers reportedly miss the T20I between the Indian cricket team and the Sri Lankan cricket team after Krunal Pandya’s COVID positive report. Apart from Krunal, his brother Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Deepak Chahar, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ishan Kishan, Manish Pandey and Yuzvendra Chahal are the players who will probably be unavailable for the rest of the series.
Suryakumar Yadav could have cemented his place in the Indian T20I squad by performing well in the next two matches. However, health is always the first priority.
