Who won yesterday’s IPL match: Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals met at the Wankhede on Thursday in the seventh match of IPL 2021. Royals were without the services of Ben Stokes who had been ruled out of IPL with a hand injury. RR dropped Gopal in favour of Unadkat and David Miller replaced Ben Stokes. DC welcomed their talisman Rabada back to the eleven while Lalit Yadav made his debut in place of Amit Mishra.
The Wankhede track had a nice grass covering and fast bowlers thrived in the powerplay. Unadkat ripped through the RR top order by picking up the wickets of Shaw, Dhawan and Rahane. Young Chetan Sakariya too bowled tight lines and did not allow the batsman to break free. A brilliant off-cutter from Mustafizur baffled Stoinis and DC were four wickets down and knee-deep in trouble.
Skipper Pant came to the rescue of his team and played with a positive approach while avoiding unnecessary risks. He punished the bowlers whenever they provided width and scored three successive boundaries off Tewatia. Pant was run out after misjudging a single off Riyan Parag and DC’s hopes of reaching a par score disappeared with his dismissal. Useful contributions from the lower order dragged DC to a score of 147/8 at the end of 20 overs.
Miller announces comeback with a fifty
Chasing 148, Rajasthan Royals once again lost Manan Vohra early. Jos Buttler, who was promoted to open the batting departed for a single-digit score. The returning Kagiso Rabada dismissed the dangerous Sanju Samson in his third ball with a fast away seamer.
Shivam Dube did not last long either as he fished at a fuller delivery without feet movement and was caught behind. Riyan Parag too threw away his wicket and the onus was on Tewatia and Miller to take the game deep.
Miller looked in total control right from the beginning and scored a fine half-century including a monstrous hit off Avesh Khan. After the departure of both Miller and Tewatia, Morris played a blinder at the death to give his team a three-wicket victory despite them being underdogs for the majority of the chase. Miller is most likely to play the rest of the matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021
IPL 2021 : RR vs DC, Who won man of the match?
Jaydev Unadkat was the player of the match due to his terrific spell with the new ball which left the DC batsmen clueless. He extracted movement from the pitch and presented the seam beautifully but it was his slower balls that did the trick. He registered figures of 4-0-15-3 and scored a few handy runs with the bat during his team’s run chase.
