The British wrestling promoter Ricky Knight recently opened up about one of his family member’s obsessions with Stone Cold Steve Austin. He was referring to his daughter i.e., AEW star Saraya (fka Paige in WWE).
Saraya began her career at the age of 13 in her hometown and went on to become a 3-time Women’s Champion in the WWE. She has been well regarded as a top pioneer in the Women’s revolution. Furthermore, many consider her as one of the originators of the movement that led women to the mainstream showcase.
Ricky mentioned that Saraya used to look up to the WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin growing up. She drew inspiration from Austin and incorporated it as a part of her own character. Both were rebellious and stood up to the authority in an act of defiance. Furthermore, the intensity of their in-ring acumen has also drawn a lot of comparisons.
Knight spoke about Austin’s influence on his daughter’s life in regard to her wrestling career in an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter. Furthermore, he elaborated that Saraya wanted to replicate Austin’s meteoric success during his heyday:
“Steve Austin was her actual hero. She wanted to be against the norm like Steve Austin so that was… I think Steve Austin was probably a big influence on her.”
Will Saraya wrestle in the AEW ring?

After being released by the WWE earlier this year, Paige signed with AEW debuting under her real name at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. Many believed that she would be taking up a non-wrestling role with the company. However, recent reports suggest that the former Paige has been medically cleared to compete by AEW Doctor, Dr. Michael Sampson.
If that is indeed the case, the fans could be in store for a dream match for Saraya against the woman she is currently feuding with, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D.
