“White ball cricket more important right now because of big World Cups,” Hardik Pandya plays down chances of test team recall

Hardik Pandya has not featured for India in test match cricket in the last couple of years

Hardik Pandya is very clear about the fact that white-ball cricket is more important to him right now because of the two big World Cups that are on the horizon and will take place in the next 18 months.

Because of the form Hardik Pandya has shown with both bat and ball recently, the Indian fans have been wondering if he can be called back to the test side too, because the test side has been lacking a seam bowling allrounder since the time Hardik has stopped playing test cricket.

When Hardik was asked this question in the post match press conference yesterday, after he put on a match winning performance against England in the first T20I, he didn’t deny to be available for the test side, but he insisted the fact that his focus right now is on white ball cricket, because there are big World Cups coming up in which he wants to play vital role for India.

Hardik also said he doesn’t know what formats he will be playing in future, but one thing is for sure that white ball cricket is on his mind right now. However, if a situation arises where he will be asked to play the longest format of the game and he thinks that his fitness is good enough to sustain the longest format, he will play.

No fun playing when you can’t give your 100% to the team: Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya, while talking to Mike Atherton in the post match presentation ceremony before the press conference, had said that when a player is not 100% fit and he knows within himself that he is not able to give his 100% to the team, there is no point playing. And, that’s why he took a break after the T20 World Cup last year.

According to Hardik, he wanted to return to the Indian team in a condition and in a shape where he is able to give his 100% to the team with both bat and ball.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
