Shubman Gill has been making waves for India in white-ball cricket of late. The young cricketer let his bat do the talking when he was duly rewarded with the opportunity to play for the team.
Rightly so, he accomplished great records as an opener at such a young age. He etched his name into the record books after he became the youngest cricketer to score a double century in One-Day Internationals.
Besides that, he also became the youngest cricketer to score a century across all three formats of the game. These performances are proof that Shubman Gill might go on to become the next superstar for India.
Ravi Shastri reckons it is time for Indian team management to back Shubman Gill for Indore Test
Meanwhile, former India’s head coach Ravi Shastri reckons that it is time for the Rahul Dravid-led Indian team management to back Shubman Gill for the Indore Test against the Australian cricket team.
The third Test between India and Australia will kick off on March 1 (Wednesday) at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Earlier, the BCCI named the unchanged squad for the third and fourth Test.
It remains to be seen which player will be axed to make way for another player. While speaking on the most recent episode of The ICC Review, Shastri said that whether Gill scores or not, he should be in the playing XI.
Speaking on the same lines, Shastri further echoed that Gill is in good form at the moment. He further added that including him in the playing XI for the Indore Test will not affect the team combination. Shubman Gill scored 736 runs in 13 Tests including 1 century and 4 fifties.
India have already taken a 2-0 lead in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series and also retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma and Co need one more clinical performance in order to win the series.
