The International Cricket Council has revealed the nominees for the ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022. The governing body has named four names in Babar Azam, Shai Hope, Adam Zampa and Sikandar Raza for the award.
The Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was nominated for scoring 679 runs at an average of 84.87 in 9 ODIs he played during 2022. The right-hander has been consistent in the format for a long period of him. His memorable performance came against Australia in Lahore when he scored 114 runs. He also scored 5 fifties and 3 tons as well.
Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been selected for bagging 30 wickets in just 12 games. He played a crucial role for his side with the ball in the middle overs and provided breakthroughs in the crucial phases. His best performance came against New Zealand when he bagged 5/35 in his spell.
Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikander Raza was at his best in 2022. In the 15 games he played this year, the all-rounder scored 625 runs at an average of 49.61 and strike rate of 87.16 to two with two fifties and three centuries. With the ball, he was staggering too as he bagged eight wickets at an economy of just more than five.
West Indies batter Shai Hope is the fourth nominee for the ICC ODI Cricketer of the year. The right-hander was exceptional with the bat as he smashed 709 runs at an average of 35.45 in 21 games. He also scored three hundreds and two fifties.
