The WWE Universe always has one question in their minds and that is, when will The Rock return to WWE? The last time fans saw Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in a WWE ring was back in 2019. He returned to the company for a special appearance on the premiere episode of Friday night SmackDown on FOX.
The then RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch opened the show, but King Corbin interrupted her. The Rock came out then and teamed up with Becky to destroy Corbin. Since the last two years, rumors have claimed that WWE wants to have a WrestleMania match between The Rock and Roman Reigns. However, the dream match is yet to come to fruition.
The Rock recently spoke about when he could return to WWE, albeit in a non-wrestling role. Speaking with BNN Bloomberg, the Hollywood megastar said:
“I love the wrestling business. I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure.”

The Rock has constantly teased a match against his cousin Roman Reigns as well. Roman has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for more than two years. A WrestleMania showdown between The Rock and his cousin for the position of the Head of the Table could be an exciting one.

The probable date for a match between The Rock and Roman Reigns is April 2, 2023. It should be the closing match of WrestleMania 39 if at all the feud comes to fruition. Dwayne Johnson said that a lot of variables come into play for him to return to WWE and then have a match at a grand stage like WrestleMania.
The question of when will The Rock return to WWE does not have a definite answer now, but it could well be on the road to WrestleMania 39.
