Wrestlemania 38 was the sight of a massive shocker witnessed by the WWE Universe when the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes jumped ship from AEW and made his return to the WWE after six years away from the company. Cody was way underutilized during his first run in the WWE which led to his departure from the company and beginning his path to reinvent himself into a bonafide main star as the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes.
The son of Dusty was also a huge driving force behind the formation of WWE’s rival promotion, All Elite Wrestling serving as an onscreen performer and Executive Vice President being one of the major reasons to put the promotion on the map.
After failing to reach negotiations with All Elite Wrestling, Cody Rhodes made an unannounced return to the WWE at this year’s WrestleMania, taking place at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas as Seth Rollins’s mystery opponent delivering a stellar performance etching it as one of the best Mania matches to take place. Rhodes co-incidentally return to the same stadium he had his last WrestleMania appearance in 2016, before leaving the WWE to pursue other ventures.
Who will face Cody Rhodes in his first match after WWE return?
Rhodes began his second coming in the WWE with a trilogy of excellent matches with Seth Rollins, however just days before his third encounter with the Drip God, Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle injury during his training.
Nevertheless, Rhodes went with one arm and all heart to have a stellar match with Rollins inside the demonic Hell in a Cell at the namesake pay-per-view pinning Seth for the third time.
