Chennai Super Kings endured a poor outing last year, finishing seventh on the points table. However, they found a new gem, named Sam Curran. The English all-rounder contributed both with the bat and ball. He bowled in the power play as well as death over and also batted at different positions for the side.
Curran is counted as an important member of CSK this year as well. The English cricketer is currently training alongside CSK squad members. CSK has been involved in practice games to prepare themselves for the first game against DC on Saturday.
Chennai Super Kings recently posted a highlights video of one of their practice games on its Twitter handle. It took no time for the video to get viral on social media. Taking to Twitter, CSK wrote
“Snippets from our #SuperMatch 2. Watch out for those cracking shots, champion dance and samma sword celebration.
In the video, Sam Curran can be seen imitating Ravindra Jadeja’s sword celebration after the latter hits a six. The moment occurred at 1: 27 seconds in the video. The video has certainly evoked a lot of excitement amongst fans.
Earlier, Sam Curran stated that his stint with CSK last year has improved his game by leaps and bounds. The English cricketer will play his second season for CSK in IPL 2021.
“Really enjoyed the IPL and feel I have taken my game to a different standard in terms of my learning. I took a lot away from that group and the coaching staff at Chennai. I feel my game has improved since I went there and I want to keep trying to improve and become a regular,” Curran said.
For the first time in their IPL history, CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs last year. MS Dhoni and Co. couldn’t live up to the fans expectations and finished at the bottom half of the table. Chennai Super Kings have made some notable inclusions this year.
To bolster their spin department, they have included the likes of Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham. Besides, they have also added Robin Uthappa, Jason Behrendorff, Chesteshwar Pujara etc. It remains to be seen how the franchise performs in the IPL 2021.
