Mumbai Indians have this culture inside their dressing room where they announce their own man of the match and give the award to one of their players, apart from the one who was given the award by the commentators in the post-match presentation.
Ishan Kishan was adjudicated the man of the match by the commentators last night for his blistering knock of 80 odd against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but in the Mumbai Indians dressing room, they announced Suryakumar Yadav as the man of the match as well, and it was Sachin Tendulkar who presented that award, in the form of a badge, to Surya.
While awarding it to Surya, the master blaster wished him good luck for the upcoming T20 World Cup and also told him that he has a much bigger role to play in the World Cup than he has played in the IPL.
Surya was adjudged the Dressing Room Player of the Match for his 🔥 knock of 82 😎

Surya scored 82 runs off just 40 balls against SRH and guided Mumbai Indians past 230 which gave them a tiny bit of chance of playoffs qualification if they could somehow get SRH all out on 65. But that was virtually impossible on a very flat surface in Abu Dhabi. As it turned out, SRH got close to 200 as well while trying to chase down the target of 230 odd, and Mumbai got eliminated from the tournament.
Suryakumar was not at his consistent best for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021
Suryakumar Yadav, who has been one of India’s most successful batsmen in IPL in the last couple of years, struggled for most parts of this IPL, but from the Indian team’s point of view, they would be breathing a sigh of relief that Surya regained his form just ahead of the World Cup.
In the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar is expected to bat at no. 4, if the Indian captain Virat Kohli bats at no. 3 himself. If Kohli decides to open the innings, then Surya might get the opportunity to bat at no. 3 which has been his best position in IPL in the last couple of years.
