Australia’s stand-in skipper Matthew Wade shared a light moment with Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan during India’s chase against Australia in the second T20I at Sydney. In Mitchell Swepson’s over, Shikhar Dhawan tried to cut a ball that was wide outside off-stump. Matthew Wade collected the ball and took off the bails when Dhawan got off-balanced and appealed for a possible stumping.
Not quick enough like MS Dhoni: Matthew Wade
After the decision was taken to the third umpire, the replays showed that Shikhar Dhawan had his feet in the air for a brief moment when he got off-balanced, but Matthew Wade was not quick enough to take the bails off as the moment he dislodged them, Dhawan’s foot was on the ground.
After seeing the replays, Matthew Wade cheekily told Shikhar Dhawan that he was not as quick enough as MS Dhoni. MS Dhoni showed in the past that he was quicker than anyone in dislodging the bails while stumping and that split second of quickness proved to be the undoing of batsmen. The legend that MS Dhoni was, it is a testimony to his greatness that people still remember him and talk about him despite him having stopped playing for India for over a year.
Here is the video of the light moment shared between Matthew Wade and Shikhar Dhawan remembering the great MS Dhoni.

Talking about the game, consistent contributions from the Australian batsmen with Matthew Wade’s leading contribution of 58 were able to post a mammoth total of 194 in their 20 overs. Needing 195 runs to win, India got a good start from their openers KL Rahul and Dhawan as they had a half-century partnership.
India then kept on losing wickets but Dhawan’s half-century and Virat Kohli’s brilliant 40 kept them in the game. It was again down to Hardik Pandya’s brilliance to help India complete the daunting chase and he was able to deliver with a fantastic quickfire 42 off just 22 balls.
India won the second T20I in this manner with two balls to spare and clinched the T20I series 2-0 with one game still to play. This is India’s 10th consecutive wins in completed T20Is.
