PCB chairman Ramiz Raja is miffed with Pakistani media for indulging in negative publicity of the Pakistan cricket team and for not hyping up their performances enough.
Ramiz Raja was in a conversation with Samaa TV where he was asked about various issues in the Pakistan team including the one in the middle order. Ramiz brushed it all aside and compared Pakistan’s situation to India, saying that Pakistan at least played the final of the Asia Cup, India didn’t even do that.
However, the Indian fans forgot about their whole Asia Cup campaign when Virat Kohli scored his 71st international hundred against Afghanistan. Ramiz Raja asked the Pakistani anchors if they can do that. If they can give importance to one of their star players as much as Indian fans give to Kohli.
Talking about the overall performances of the Pakistan team, Ramiz said that he can’t remember in his living memory that Pakistan ever beat India in a World Cup game, but they did so recently in UAE. People forgot about it easily. They shouldn’t forget it because Pakistan beat a team that has a billion-dollar cricket industry.
“You should hype up the performances of Pakistan players too,” Ramiz Raja tells Pakistani media
Ramiz insisted that the Pakistani media should hype up the centuries and five-wicket hauls of Pakistani players as much as they hype up the performances of the other players around the world, including the Indian players. Ramiz also asked the anchors when it last happened that the Pakistani players swept through all the ICC awards, but it happened this year.
Ramiz might be beating around the bush, but the fact of the matter is that in the last one year, Pakistan lost a test series against Australia at home, lost a 7-match T20I series against England at home and couldn’t win a 2-match test series in Sri Lanka. However, in the T20 World Cup 2021 and Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan performed better than their arch rivals India.
