” Virat Kohli needs a break ” Twitter reacts as Kohli gets out for a duck against West Indies

Virat Kohli scored a total of 26 runs in the 3 games against West Indies

With India having already won the ODI series against West Indies and the third game being a dead rubber, Virat Kohli fans were expecting that the former Indian captain will bat freely and will score some runs after two failures, but it proved to be another disappointment as Kohli was dismissed by Alzarri Joseph for a 2-ball duck.

It was a mighty unlucky dismissal because the bowler perhaps bowled a delivery he didn’t even want to bowl. It was down the leg side and generally with those kind of deliveries on the pads, you expect the batsman of the calibre of Kohli to collect a boundary, but on this occasion, Kohli just ended up getting an inside edge which was held by the keeper.

This was after a long time that Virat Kohli didn’t even get a half century in an ODI series. His highest score in the series was 18 and in all three games, it didn’t seem as if he was in great touch, although the dismissal in the third ODI was unlucky.

Virat Kohli had scored two half centuries in ODIs on South Africa tour

Even in South Africa, where Kohli got a couple of half centuries in the ODI series, the fluency was not there. He was not scoring at the clip he normally scores at when he is in good form. So although the runs haven’t completely dried up, it has still been a matter of concern for Kohli and the Indian fans.

Some Indian fans were of the view today that Kohli perhaps needs a short break as he has gone through a lot with change in captaincy in all formats and even personal struggle with the bat. A little break away from the rigours of international cricket will do him a world of good.

Here is how twitter reacted after Virat Kohli got out without scoring any run today –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
