The young Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who is on his way of becoming a global superstar in the game, has now been given a big recognition in his home state and has been appointed the brand ambassador of the state of Uttarakhand by the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Dhami.
Rishabh Pant has played all his domestic cricket for Delhi and is currently representing Delhi Capitals in the IPL as well, which sometimes sends the impression to a lot of people that he is a local Delhi boy, which is not entirely wrong because Pant indeed learnt his cricket in Delhi, but his roots are from Uttarakhand.
Family of Rishabh Pant originally belongs to Roorkey which is in Uttarakhand and initially, his family was based there. Because of the lack of facilities in his hometown, Pant had to regularly travel to Delhi to practice and train and at times, had to find shelter in a Gurudwara, as his family didn’t have a permanent base in the city of Delhi.
Pant’s family eventually shifted to Delhi after sometime as the wicketkeeper started coming through the ranks and started getting more opportunities to play cricket at the higher level. Breakthrough of Pant’s career was the U19 World Cup of 2016, where he caught everyone’s eyes with his dashing strokeplay while open ing the batting.
The owners of Delhi Capitals were quick to sign Pant after his U19 World Cup heroics and right now, Pant is the most expensive player in the league, alongside the Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma and the CSK allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, all three of whom are contracted at a salary of 16 crore INR per season.
Pant is also among the youngest captains in the IPL as he has already been given the charge of the Delhi Capitals, despite him being only in his early 20s at the moment.
Rishabh Pant was the perfect fit to be given the brand ambassador role
With Pant’s growing popularity around the world and in the country and with him now being seen as a potential Indian captain as well at some point of time in future, the Uttarakhand government couldn’t have found a better role model than him to appoint for the brand ambaasador role.
Uttarakhand CM himself announced the government’s decision of appointing Rishabh Pant as the brand ambassador of the state. Pant, in response to the chief minister’s announcement, assured him that he would try and spread the positive message among the Uttarakhand public and would create awareness about general health.
Thank you @pushkardhami sir for giving me the opportunity to be the Brand Ambassador of promoting Sports and General Health among the people of Uttarakhand. I’ll do my best to spread this message and feeling happy that you are taking these steps towards a fitter India. https://t.co/xv17rs5bV0
