The Board of Control for Cricket in India is likely to release its annual contracts for the year 2023, which fall into three categories in A+: 7 crores, A: 5 crores, B: 3 crores and C: 1 crore.

It is learned as per the various media reports that BCCI is likely to remove Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha from the new annual central contract. The senior batter was also axed from Indiaโ€™s squad for the home Test series against Sri Lanka last year after poor outings for more than a year. He then suffered an injury and never found himself back in the side.

The keeper batter was also dropped from the squad for Sri Lanka Tests, as he was conveyed by the BCCI that they wonโ€™t consider him in future as they are looking to nurture the young talent.

On the other hand, Ishant Sharma found himself on the sidelines ever since Mohammad Siraj was in the Indian Test team. After playing 100 Tests for India, Ishant wasnโ€™t up to the mark with his performances but itโ€™s fair to say that he didnโ€™t get the desired backing from the team as well. After getting dropped from the team he wasnโ€™t even once considered for the selection.
