“Take up cage fighting and let’s see what you are made of,” David Lloyd suggests Virat Kohli after Jonny Bairstow sledging incident

Former England player and coach David Lloyd have suggested Virat Kohli if he has this urge of engaging other people in a non-contact sport like cricket, then he should take up cage fighting and should give it a real go because it’s in cage fighting that he will find out what he is made of.

David Lloyd, who was a commentator for Sky Sports for a long time and is now just a columnist, wrote in his column for Daily Mail that he doesn’t know where a line will be drawn in terms of what Virat Kohli does on the field and who will draw that line because what Kohli did in the first session of day 3 was insult towards the opposition.

Virat Kohli and Jonny Bairstow had engaged in an animated discussion in the first session of day 3 when the ball was moving around and Bairstow was not able to put the bat on the ball for a brief period of time. However, as has been the case with the dukes balls in England this summer, the ball got soft quickly and Bairstow launched an onslaught.

David Lloyd also praised Virat Kohli for acknowledging the performance of Root and Bairstow

Bairstow then scored a hundred in the second innings of the game as well and England didn’t just win the test match, they ended up leveling the series too, a series which was led by India last year.

David Lloyd has always been someone who has been a fierce critic of Kohli’s on-field antics, in terms of his sledging and interactions with the opposition players, but at the end of his column, he also praised Kohli for acknowledging the performance of Joe Root and Bairstow and warmly congratulating them when the game concluded.

Virat Kohli didn’t have a great time with the bat in the test match himself, as he was dismissed for less than 30 in both innings.
