Tymal Mills Ruled Out Of IPL 2022; Mumbai Indians Announce Replacement

Mumbai Indians have suffered a major blow ahead of their IPL 2022 match against the Gujarat Titans. The Mumbai-based franchise have lost the services of their star England fast bowler Tymal Mills, who has been ruled out of the season due to an injury. Hence, MI have decided to sign Tristan Stubbs as a replacement.

Not many fans would have heard the name Tristan Stubbs. He is an uncapped player from South Africa just like Dewald Brevis. Stubbs recently played for South Africa ‘A’ in the series against Zimbabwe XI. Stubbs has represented Eastern Province, South Western Districts and Warriors.

Informing the fans about Tristan Stubbs, MI wrote in their press release:

“The 21-year-old, talented middle-order batter, recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league. Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season.”

It seems like Mumbai Indians want to have a decent overseas wicket-keeping option who could play in the team in case Ishan Kishan is not available. It will be interesting to see if Tristan Stubbs gets a game for MI in IPL 2022.

Tymal Mills could not impress much while playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022

Tymal Mills had yet another forgettable IPL season as the left-arm fast bowler failed to form a good partnership with Jasprit Bumrah in Mumbai Indians’ pace attack. Mills played five matches for the Mumbai-based franchise, where he scalped six wickets at an economy rate of 11.18.

Mills bowled 17 overs, where he conceded 190 runs. He is known to be a death-overs specialist, but Mills could not do the job properly for the Mumbai Indians team in IPL 2022. It is unlikely that the Mumbai-based franchise will retain him for the next season.
