Two most controversial Mankad attempts in IPL history

Harshal Patel missed a sitter as he completely lost track of where the stumps were supposed to be

It was drama at its peak at the Chinnaswamy as Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to miss out an incredible run-out in the end, and that too twice where Harshal Patel failed to run out Ravi Bishnoi at the non-striker’s end or as you would call this a mankad while Dinesh Karthik fumbled at the keeper’s end as Lucknow Super Giants stole a crucial run in that last ball to walk away with the bragging rights.

It hasn’t been the first time in IPL 2023 that a run-out at the non-striker’s end or as it is controversially known as the Mankad has been missed. Albeit two have been under different situations but this is now a second missed ‘mankad’ in the latest edition of IPL and the fans are still reeling from it. Here are two missed ‘mankads’ in IPL 2023 or as you would say, a run-out at the non-striker’s end.

#1 Harshal Patel completely misses the stumps

In order to run a batter out at the non-striker’s end while you are in your bowling stride, ideally you need to have it all thought up in your head. Accordingly, you proceed with your game plan. However, Harshal just had it all messed up.

He ran in and realized midway that Ravi Bishnoi was out of his crease. By the time he could adjust himself and hit the stumps, he has gone passed the timbre and a return throw was futile as Ravi Bishnoi had already made the crease by then.

#2 Ravichandran Ashwin was stopped by the umpire to run-out Adil Rashid

In a surprising move, when Ravichandran Ashwin wanted to take the bails off at the non-striker’s end against the Sunrisers Hyderabad with Adil Rashid at the non-striker’s end, the umpire stepped in and asked Ash to not pull off such a stunt.

It was shocking as the umpire had no business in calling the shots particularly but then he did and the mess was evident for every one to witness.
