KKR books a place in the final of IPL 2021
After winning the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore, KKR was in good spirits. They just needed to carry the momentum and on the pitch at Sharjah, anything was possible. KKR used the same winning template that they had executed to perfection against RCB.
Winning the toss, KKR put Delhi into bat. Delhi Capitals had a decent start, but as soon as Eoin Morgan brought spinners into the game, DC’s progress was hampered. Run scoring became dry and eventually, Rishabh Pant’s squad could put up 135 runs on the board. KKR started well in their chase as the openers constructed a stunning 96-run partnership. However, after Venkatesh Iyer fell, the shaky middle-order of KKR struggled under pressure. If not for the six by Rahul Tripathi in the last over, KKR would have succumbed to an embarrassing loss.
Incredible turnaround for the franchise
For a team that was languishing in the bottom half of the table after the first phase, it is an incredible turnaround to make it to the finals of the competition. The emergence of Indian talent in the form of Venkatesh Iyer, Varun CV and Shivam Mavi has been one of the major reasons for the same. They will now meet CSK in the final on October 15th in Dubai.
