India’s batting innings yesterday was a bit of an unusual experience for the Indian captain Virat Kohli because he sat in the Indian dugout with his helmet on for the full 20 overs of the innings and didn’t walk in to play even a single ball.
Kohli was actually slotted to bat at no. 3 for India where he usually bats anyway in the shorter formats of the game, but the Indian opening pair of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul set such a good platform for the men in blue that the team management and Kohli himself thought it was time for the power hitters to walk in and build on the platform already set.
So, rather than Kohli, it w as Rishabh Pant who walked in at no. 3 and went hammer and tongs straightaway and after India lost their second wicket in the form of KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya
With the start that India had got, the Indian fans were hoping for a score of 180, but a late onslaught from both ends by Pandya and Pant ensured that India went well over the 200 run mark and gave themselves an opportunity to not just win the game, but win it by a huge margin as well.
Virat Kohli didn’t take his helmet off even though he slotted himself down the batting order
Kohli, even though he pushed himself down the order by sending Pant and Pandya up, didn’t remove his helmet and kept himself seated in the dugout in the same position with his helmet on. The Indian fans, who were already in a good mood with India having scored over 200, had a bit of a chuckle at Kohli sitting in the dugout for full 20 overs with his helmet on.
Here is how Twitter reacted as the Indian captain didn’t walk in to bat at any stage of the Indian innings despite having his helmet on from first ball to last –

The funniest part was Kohli wearing his helmet and pads for 19.5 overs and then removed, made his hair and walked back to the dressing room 😂😂.

What a boring day for Kohli.
• Had to go for toss even after knowing result.
• Put on helmet for 20 overs and not getting a single ball to bat.
• No catches came towards him in fielding.
• Almost one sided at the end, can't even celebrate properly.#T20WorldCupAdvertisement— Chinaman (@ChinamanStrikes) November 3, 2021

If this is how it works, then Kohli should go for toss with helmet on. https://t.co/RUIwn7rh3T
