Twitter reacts as Preity Zinta confirms she will miss IPL mega auction this year

Preity Zinta has been a centre of attraction in IPL auctions for many years

Preity Zinta, the co-owner of Punjab Kings, has confirmed that she will not be on the IPL auction table this time around and it will be the head coach of the team, Anil Kumble, who will be in charge of the auction as far as Punjab Kings are concerned.

The reason that Preity Zinta has mentioned for her absence is the fact that she has got little babies at home and it’s very difficult for her to make the journey from USA, where she lives with her husband, to India in these challenging times of the pandemic.

Preity has always been a centre of attraction in the IPL auctions and the fans were very excited to see how she goes in the auction again, particularly with the fact that the Punjab Kings have got the biggest purse among all teams going into the IPL auctions.

Preity Zinta will miss an IPL auction after a long time

It’s after a long time that Preity Zinta will miss the IPL auctions and a mega auction at that. This is going to be a very important auction for all teams because it might turn out to be the last mega auction ever and last opportunity for the franchises to build a team. There are reports that BCCI might decide to have only mini auctions going ahead.

Punjab Kings, a franchise which is owned by Zinta and a couple of other entrepreneurs, have retained only two players in Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. They had a big Indian superstar in their ranks in the form of KL Rahul, but they couldn’t convince him to stay and they lost the services of two of the exciting young talents, Ravi Bishnoi and Shahrukh Khan as well.

So, from Punjab’s point of view, it’s absolutely necessary that they make some smart moves in the auction. Here is how twitter reacted after Preity Zinta confirmed that she would miss the IPL mega auction –

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
